Keystone FAQ:
- Is there a lot of pedaling in the Super-D? We're getting this one a lot. The Keystone Crew has come up with a Super-D that was described by Nate in the following terms: The top is the original Mtn. States Cup start, but the finish is pure Colorado singletrack. It's fast...and rocky. A lot like Angel Fire's Super-D."
- Can I register for an individual stage? Yup. No problem. We'll be taking registration on-site for both 3-stage participants and single-stage entries.
- Are you chip timing? Yup.
- Can I race head to head with my bros? Yup.
- Will Pros get start intervals? Yup. One minute for both DH stages, 5-seconds for Super-D
- Will the Super-D be a mass start? Yes - but for amateurs only.
- When does online registration close? 11PM MST on Thursday, June 28th.
- Will the bike park be open to the general public during the event? Yes and no. We're going to keep as much terrain open as possible, but during race times the courses will be open to competitors only. At the conclusion of racing we'll have whichever course we jusy used back open within minutes. We're sensitive to the fact that a lot of you just want to come up and ride so we promise to do our very best to make that as easy and as enjoyable as possible. And if you're interested in seeing some World Cup athletes put the scorched earth treatment on your favorite trails, you just might want to grab a good seat in the trees and watch as the world's very best DH'ers descend on 'the Stone this weekend.
Lodging:
Where can I stay for cheap? Lodging deals begin at $118 at the Inn at Keystone or a one bedroom condo per night! Two bedroom condos start at $140 per night. Please call 888-SKI-KEYSTONE and reference 7KG3.
Camping:
There is no camping allowed on Keystone property and the emergency services folks will be patrolling the lots. There are plenty of spaces on national forest land just up the road to Montezuma, Keystone Gulch and plenty more over on Swan Mountain Road.

970-453-2232 X303RE: FIRE BAN EFFECTIVE JUNE 30, 2007 IN SUMMIT COUNTY
The Board of County Commissioners of Summit County has signed Resolution 2007-57 enacting a Level I fire ban in unincorporated areas of Summit County effective 12:01A.M. on Saturday, June 30, 2007. This measure was based upon the existing dry conditions in the forests and grasslands in the County. The current burn index is high and the weather forecast predicts continued dryness.
A Level I fire ban prohibits open fires, the use of fireworks, and the sale of fireworks in unincorporated areas. Open fires will be allowed at improved campgrounds, within the designated fire ring, as listed on the attached Resolution.
Fires contained within liquid-fueled, gas fueled, or charcoal fueled stoves or grills are allowed on private property. Self-contained outdoor fire bowls, chimneys, chimineas, WITH SCREEN COVERS, are allowed on private property if placed on a concrete or asphalt surface.
Charcoal fueled fires, within permanent fire pits, are allowed on private property providing a) fire is under constant supervision; b) fire suppression apparatus is available at the location; c) notification of fire has been provided to the local fire district; d) notification of fire has been provided to Summit County Sheriff’s Office by calling the Communication Center at 668-8600.
The fire ban will be enforced by the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. The penalty assessment for violating the fire ban is a $150.00 fine for the first offense; $500.00 for the second offense; and $1,000.00 for all subsequent offenses.
I need more info!
No problem. Give me a shout at 970-333-1159. (quick qualifier here: I have an 11-month old who wakes up when the dog yawns at night - please keep calls between 7am and 7pm! TX!)
